Koval Rye Whisky BOTTLED in BOND "hand selected barrel"
Pellegrini has chosen a barrel of Koval Rye Whiskey to age in government-bonded storage. A 30-gallon (117.5-litre) barrel that has lost around 10% of its capacity, yielding 210 numbered bottles. A strong, spicy whiskey with sweet flavors that are wonderfully tempered by the malted rye, which is present at 100%. A real return to American Whiskey's roots.
The "bottled in bond" kind of American whiskey is rather unknown. The United States government adopted it in 1897 to verify whiskey that had not been tampered with in any way. Bottled-in-bond whiskeys required to be made in a single distillery and aged in bonded warehouses under government supervision for at least four years. The alcohol concentration could not and could not be less than 100 proof, or 50% vol.alc.
