Ron Abuelo 12 Años Gran Reserva is the house's best known and most widely distributed label. It is a traditional rum because it is made from molasses. The molasses is fermented on site before being distilled in a small column, reminiscent of a Creole column. As a result, the blend is composed of rums aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 7 to 40 years. According to Panamanian law, the weighted average age is 12 years.
