The Balvenie 12 Y.O. the Sweet Toast Of American Oak

The "Balvenie Stories" series explores some of the production quirks of this historic Speyside distillery, one of Scotland's last authentically artisanal operations. Virgin white oak barrels were imported from Kentucky and charred in-house. These casks, which have never been exposed to the distillate, are extremely active and capable of infusing the distillate with a large amount of aromatic compounds. Consequently, they were used only in the final stages of aging Balvenie 12 Y.O. This is a whiskey with rich fruity notes, ranging from apricot to yellow apple, with strong hints of vanilla and honey.
