Kilkerran Cask Strength 8 Y.O. Batch 10 - Bourbon Cask 57,5% (Release 2024)

Founded in Campbeltown in 1872, the distillery remained in operation until 1925, when all malt Whiskey stocks were sold and all equipment was removed. The remaining buildings, however, were purchased in 2000 by Hedley Wright, owner of Springbank Distillery and a descendant of William Mitchell, who remodeled and reopened Glengyle Distillery in 2004. Kilkerran Cask Strength 8 Years Old Bourbon Cask is a lightly peated single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 8 years in casks previously containing exclusively Bourbon and bottled at cask strength at 57,5% vol. without being cold filtered or colored.

Nose: Delicate peat smoke opens the dram, gently intertwined with notes of lightly smoked meat, candied orange peel, juicy raisins, and a hint of cola. A subtle maritime breeze lingers in the background, adding depth and freshness.

Palate: Rich and layered, with an initial burst of dried fruits—predominantly raisins—followed by classic sherry sweetness, soft caramel, and bitter dark chocolate. Mid-palate reveals a warm touch of cinnamon and delicate floral nuances that lift the profile.

Finish: Medium in length, leaving lingering notes of liquorice and cinnamon spice. A touch of seasoned oak and a refined trace of mineral, peaty smoke round out the experience with elegance.
