Chacom Pipes
The discovery of briar for pipe production has a precise date and place: Saint-Claude, mid-nineteenth century. It was in the French district of Jura that briar pipe production began, which would lead French pipes, and soon after Italian pipes, to excel in all markets.
One of the companies that started the briarwood revolution was Comoy, from which was born, through a "satellite" enterprise wanted by Henry Comoy in London, Chacom. Soon this brand established itself not only in the Anglo-Saxon market, but also in the domestic market (by 1946 Chacom became the best-selling brand in France), gradually imposing itself on all the other markets held by Comoy and quickly becoming the leading brand of French pipes in the world.
Today the Chacom brand is present in more than 40 countries.
